First Christian Church of Alamogordo

Welcome!

Ours is a faith community within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We value reading the Bible for oneself, coming to an understanding of what it means within the community of faith. We therefore have room for a variety of leanings, from the conservative to the liberal, all united around the Table of our Lord. Because we believe in unity centered in Christ and his command to remember him through Communion (or The Lord's Supper or Eucharist), we celebrate open Communion weekly. The invitation comes from Christ, so all are welcome, regardless of whether you've been baptized or where (or even if) you hold church membership.

We are located at 2300 23rd St in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Our Sunday morning begins with a Pastor's Bible Study beginning at 8:30 a.m. Worship begins at 9:45 a.m. Following worship is a time of refreshment (coffee, punch and cookies) and fellowship. Sunday school, led by one of the congregational leaders, begins at 11:00 a.m. and usually takes a deeper look at the scripture on which the sermon is based. The Pastor's Bible Study is also offered at 7:00 p.m. (The same material is covered in morning and evening sessions, each lasting about an hour.)

The congregation hosts a portion of Legacy Christian Academy (four-year-old kindergarten through 5th grade), a Narcotics Anonymous group, the Tularosa Basin Rock Hounds, and the Space City Stamp Collectors. Through our outreach, we assist the Salvation Army, COPE, the Disciples' Rice & Beans project to feed the hungry in Mexico, and others.
